Dixie Brings On Experienced Campaign Manager to Lead Congressional Campaign
August 19, 2025
NASHVILLE, TN — State Representative Vincent Dixie announced the hiring of veteran political strategist Doug Gray as campaign manager for his special election bid for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District.
“Doug Gray brings decades of experience winning tough races at the local, state, and federal level,” said Dixie. “He’s exactly the leader our campaign needs to keep us firing on all cylinders in the final days before the October primary.”
Relocating from Kansas City, MO, to Nashville, Doug brings previous experience managing winning campaigns. In May, he managed the Coordinated Campaign for John Ewing, who became the first Black Mayor of Omaha, Nebraska. Doug served as State Director for Harris/Walz, winning the “Blue Dot” electoral vote in Nebraska, and he successfully managed signature campaigns to place both the winning Ohio and Missouri Reproductive Rights measures on the ballot. He has three decades of experience working with groups ranging from EMILY’s List, Human Rights Campaign, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Planned Parenthood, to former Congresswoman Pat Danner, US Senator Claire McCaskill, and President Barack Obama.
“When Mark Green decided to vote for the Big Bad Bill and turn and run away instead of defending his harmful vote, I knew that the people of Tennessee Congressional District 7 were eager for and deserved a representative that gave a damn about ordinary people,” Gray said. “When Vincent Dixie stepped up to run and wanted me on his team I was already out the door.”
The hiring of a campaign manager rounds out a team that includes Political Director Nadira Freeman, Nashville-based consultants Triumph Strategies, digital firm Delta Current Strategies, media firm Fight Agency, and mail firm CN4 Partners.
